Vision Correction Implants Often Used for Cataract Surgery

Vision Correction Implants Often Used for Cataract Surgery

By EyeClinicAdmin January 17, 2017

Contact lenses are an excellent option for most people seeking vision correction.  Contacts rest on top of the eye temporarily and can be removed at will.

For those seeking a more permanent solution, vision correction implants are available.  Vision correction implants, also called Intraocular Lens Implants, involve inserting a lens inside your eye through surgery.  A vision correction implant replaces your natural lens. These implants are often used during cataract surgery, although they are also used for refractive lens exchange, which replaces your eye’s clear lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to achieve sharper focus.

There are a variety of vision correction implants, including multifocal and toric (for astigmatism).  Premium lenses are also available and well-suited for many conditions.  Once placed, vision correction implants should last you for the rest of your life.
