Dr. Smith’s ultimate goal is to place the patient’s needs first. His past experiences in many different areas of the United States and the world have prepared him to be able to connect with a wide variety of people. Dr. Smith is well experienced in an array of eye surgeries including: corneal transplantation, DMEK, DSAEK, cataract surgery, LASIK/PRK, ICL, and many other routine and advanced surgeries. He is an expert in difficult corneal diseases. His prior training and experience have molded him into one of the elite cornea specialists in the country.
Dr. Smith received a medical doctorate degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed an ophthalmology residency program at Saint Louis University and held the position of Chief Resident his final year. He then completed a cornea/refractive fellowship at the distinguished program, the University of Utah Moran Eye Center. He has published primary research multiple times and presented in national ophthalmology meetings. His most proud accomplishment in life is his family. He is married to his sweet wife Cameryn and they have one son. They live by the motto “we do hard things” which keeps life busy and exciting. Dr. Smith enjoys being outside whether that is hiking, biking, skiing, or running. He plays the piano and aspires to be a rockstar…there is room for improvement in this category.
